Xynix Opera Bluebeard (Blauwbaard)

In may 2010 Xynix opera is opening their home base in the Veerensmederij, making them the first youthoperahouse of the Netherlands. They are well known for their impressive and huge annual opera’s on location. Last year ‘King Arthur’ attracted 7000 people. The new production Blauwbaard consists of 5 main singers, 7 choir singers, 23 women of which 14 dancers (7 hiphopdancers, 7 modern dancers) and takes place on a performance area of 70 meters by 40 meters.

Your World – City Games Competition

Rotterdam is going to carry the name ‘European youth capital 2010’. So as a part of all the developments going on we present you a solo Hip Hop competition where you’ll be taught a choreography which you will be tested upon. After this you will enter a freestyle session ( quarter and semi finals) The finals consist of ONE ON ONE BATTLES.

Pricemoney: 1000 euros

Judges: Aruna Vermeulen, Sheyda Darab, Ggiorgio, Kenneth ard and Bonnie Doets.

My new Hip Hop theatre piece which was shown on the 4th, 5th and 6th of September will be shown on the 18th of oktober 2009 at the Ostadetheater.

Come and join this search for identity, inner battle, anger and freedom translated in raw Hip Hop dance.

Ziel tour starting again

In October dance theatre Aya is starting the Ziel (Soul) tour again. (October – November 2009) Ziel is a heavy piece where 7 dancers show the core of their soul. With a tear, a shout, laughing or in silence. But always translated back into movement. I am one of the dancers.

Back again this year! Urban Dance Stylez is from the 26th till the 29th of august. Me and my colleagues Magic, Joker, John Agesilas and Akeem offer you a series of energetic but mostly fun workshops. Styles: Wackin’, House dancing, Hip Hop, Poppin’, Lockin’, and Fusion Jazz.

The workshops finish off with solo and duo battles in House, poppin’, Lockin’ and bboying.

Experimental Battle in October

Together with Dance theatre Aya and Theater de Krakeling an experimental battle on the 14th of October is organized. A place where dancers from different backgrounds come together to battle so we can sweep off some of the prejudices found in the dance world. An event where modern dancers, hip hop dancers and more people can meet and exchange skills. With judges who are already busy building bridges between the academic/ theatre and the hip hop world.

Judges: Eszteca Noya, Sheyda Darab, Ben Bergmans, Wies Bloemen and Marco Gerris.

Where: Theater De Krakeling, Nieuwe Passerdersstraat 1, Amsterdam, The Netherlands
